Dr. Katrin Dreyer-Gibney, MBA
Dr. Katrin Dreyer-Gibney is a sustainability advocate dedicated to driving change through research and practical solutions. She works with communities, organisations, and businesses to create strategies addressing climate change and aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With decades of international experience, she equips executives, professionals, and students with the skills to shape a sustainable future.
By connecting research with practice, she inspires ethical and collaborative changemakers and tackles complex challenges through multi-stakeholder projects. Her research focuses on creating conditions for organisations and individuals to thrive sustainably and ethically.
As a Research Lead, Lecturer, and HR Project Manager at Trinity College Dublin, Dr. Dreyer-Gibney has over 30 years of expertise in the international service industry, higher education operations, and global shared services. She holds a PhD from Trinity Business School, an MBA from the Open University, and a Business degree from Munich’s College of Commerce.
Her research involves collaborating with European small and medium-sized enterprises to operationalise the SDGs. She specialises in sustainability-oriented service innovation (SOSI), using action research to develop practical frameworks that turn sustainability visions into strategies.
Dr. Dreyer-Gibney mentors international students in the master’s programme on Global Challenges for Sustainability, nurturing future sustainability leaders. She has authored numerous academic papers and published works tailored for a wider audience, making her insights accessible beyond academia.
Throughout her career, she has worked with leading organisations such as Deutsche Bahn, Munich Airport, Hilton International, Hertz International, and Trinity College Dublin. Her roles have included centralising shared services, establishing multilingual customer operations, modernising university administration, managing commercialisation of university services, and implementing policies on emergency planning, risk management, and workplace wellbeing.
Her innovative teaching methods earned her the Teaching Excellence Award from Trinity Business School for her work on the Sustainable Operations Management Programme. In her senior HR management role at Trinity, she continues to enhance services for employees.
An accomplished powerlifter, Dr. Dreyer-Gibney has set World, European, and National records over the past decade.
